Schottenheimer, currently serving as the Cowboys' offensive coordinator since 2023, had his first interview for the head coaching job on Tuesday, which reportedly lasted four hours. This extended interview session indicates the Cowboys' serious consideration of Schottenheimer for the role.
Schottenheimer's familiarity with the organization, being a part of the Cowboys' coaching staff, may give him an edge in the selection process. This aligns with owner Jerry Jones' preference for promoting individuals he knows and trusts within the organization.
